The Department of Mathematics of VU University invites applications for
a PhD position on Mathematical Modeling of Road Traffic
The current opening is focused on stochastic mathematical modeling of road traffic. In particular, we want to study various characteristics, such as the efficiency, stability, flow and clustering, of systems designed to model specific aspects of road traffic.
Candidates must have a master degree in mathematics, business analytics, operations research or theoretical physics. A strong demonstrable background and interest in stochastics is essential. Experience with computer programming and numerical simulation, especially in the area of stochastics, is considered an advantage.
This is a 4-year position, available with immediate effect. Conditions are based on the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
