AUEB-Stats Short Course 20-21/5/2024: "Basketball Data Science", 8th AUEB Sports Analytics Workshop & Conference

 The Sports Analytics Group of the Department of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business announces the 8th AUEB Sports Analytics Workshop (AUEB SAW2024), which will be hosted live at Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece), on the evenings of Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th of May 2024.

The workshop will be also accompanied by a live short course on Basketball Data Science (20-21 May 2024).

This short course offers instructor-led and hands-on training in Basketball Analytics for students and sports professionals. It provides the understanding of the concepts of Basketball Data Science, by covering basic statistics tools and advanced methods of Data Analysis, using the R package BasketballAnalyzeR.  Real examples from NBA data are shown and exercises are assigned to students in the form of questions by basketball fans.

 Lectures: Prof. Marica Manisera, Paola Zuccolotto (University of Brescia) & Dr. Christos Marmarinos (AUEB SAG, Sacramento Kings)

 Dates: 20-21 May 2024

 Location: Athens University of Economics and Building (New AUEB building and/or Postgraduate Building, depending on participation)

 Duration: 8 hours in two days (4 hours per date)

Schedule: 14.00-18.00/15.00-19.00 (subject to room availability and participation)
