The Centre for Biostatistics, part of the Institute of Population Health at The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint two Lecturers, the purpose of which is to deliver high quality research and teaching. One role (M&HS-07172) will focus on the statistics of clinical studies, particularly in mental health, and the other (M&HS-07173) on statistical applications in epidemiological studies. It is expected that any research will be disseminated widely to impact both research and practice and that new funding will be sought to maintain and grow self-sustaining research. You will also be expected to contribute appropriately to teaching and professional training as well as undertake any associated management and administrative duties. You will hold a PhD in Biostatistics or a closely related subject area. Candidates with equivalent research experience will also be eligible. You will have experience of teaching statistics and a broad knowledge of modern statistical methods.

The Institute of Population Health is committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting women’s careers in STEMM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) in higher education. The Institute received a Bronze Award in 2013 for their commitment to the representation of women in the workplace and we particularly welcome applications from women for this post. Appointment will always be made on merit. For further information, please visit http://www.mhs.manchester.ac.uk/about-us/athena/. The Institute also supports the University’s work in advancing racial equality in higher education, recognised this summer (2015) by being one of only eight universities to receive a Race Equality Charter award at Bronze level.
