The Department of Biostatistics is located on the health science campus of Indiana University, in the city of Indianapolis. The campus consists of four health-related professional schools, including Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Public Health. It is the focal point of health science education at Indiana University, and the School of Medicine is the country’s second largest allopathic medical school.

The Department currently has 18 faculty members, 23 fulltime PhD students and 33 professional staff. We are dedicated to excellence in statistical and collaborative research in the health sciences and in teaching. The Department has MS and PhD programs in Biostatistics, an undergraduate program in Health Data Science, an extensive portfolio of research funding as principal investigators and co-investigators that includes collaborative research with all departments in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health as well as Dentistry and Nursing. Indianapolis consistently ranks high nationally on many of the "best places to live" lists and has an economy that is growing in the life sciences arena. In addition, it has always been one of the cities with the lowest cost of living. Carmel, Indy's northern neighbor, was recently named as the best midsized city in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities
The postdoctoral research fellow will conduct innovative statistical methodology research in the area of multi-state models with incomplete, misclassified and/or interval-censored electronic health records data. The ultimate goal of this NIH-funded research project is to aid the efforts by the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and other international organizations to generate valid estimates and projections about key HIV outcomes around the world. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to work on applied/collaborative projects in the area of HIV/AIDS. The fellow will work under the supervision of Drs. Giorgos Bakoyannis and Constantin T. Yiannoutsos.

Position Qualifications
PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics or a closely related field. Experience with methodology development in the area of survival analysis and/or multi-state models. Strong computing skills and excellent knowledge of R, STATA or Python. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
