In recent years, technology breakthroughs in genetics have generated a tremendous amount of data enhancing our ability to decipher the architecture of complex diseases and traits. Rapid developments in genomic profiling techniques have brought new opportunities and challenges to the fields of genetic epidemiology, genetic statistics and precision medicine. In this talk we will describe methods for statistical analysis of genome-wide association data, and we will explore potential future directions for improvement using available summary and individual level data. Applications in large-scale datasets, including biobanks, will be presented and extensions towards precision medicine will be discussed.
