Το Εργαστήριο Υγιεινής και Επιδημιολογίας της Ιατρικής Σχολής Πανεπιστημίου
Ιωαννίνων προσκαλεί αιτήσεις για μία θέση μεταδιδακτορικού ερευνητικού
συνεργάτη. Το ερευνητικό αντικείμενο της θέσης είναι συμβολή στην ανάπτυξη
καινοτόμων στατιστικών μοντέλων μετα-ανάλυσης για την σύνθεση πληροφορίας από
κλινικά και μοριακά πειράματα.
Η θέση παρέχει την ευκαιρία στον επιτυχή υποψήφιο να συνεργαστεί μέσω του
Εργαστηρίου Υγιεινής και Επιδημιολογίας με διάφορες ερευνητικές ομάδες μεγάλων
ευρωπαϊκών πανεπιστημίων. Απαραίτητα προσόντα είναι ο διδακτορικός τίτλος
σπουδών σε φυσικές επιστήμες με έμφαση στην στατιστική.
Η θέση παρέχει τριετή απασχόληση με δυνατότητα διετούς επέκτασης και
χρηματοδοτείται πλήρως από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Applied Statistics and Epidemiology.
University of Ioannina School of Medicine
General Description: The Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Ioannina invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate. The post is embedded in the project ‘Missing Observations in Psychiatric Trials and Meta-analysis’ funded as part of the ARISTEIA grand scheme and the ‘Integrating the Multiple Meta-analysis’ funded by the ERC Starting Grant. It entails statistical analysis of data and developing of novel models to address the problem of missing outcome data in clinical trials and meta-analysis.
Details: The post holder will work on developing novel statistical models in meta-analysis with missing outcome data and multiple interventions and will analyze data from ongoing systematic reviews. Motivated from real datasets, the successful candidate is expected to extend the standard statistical models for meta-analysis.
Setting: The post is funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology and the European Research Council. The grant supports also training opportunities and career development. This will allow the post holder to attend workshops, conferences and networking activities. Within a multidisciplinary and highly motivated environment, the post will provide the opportunity to the successful candidate to work in collaboration with various European research groups in the cutting edge of evidence synthesis.
Qualifications: You should have a PhD, or equivalent, in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, applied mathematics or computational biology. Interest in epidemiology and understanding of clinical problems are an important advantage.
Programming skills in a high level language such as a C and R are essential and previous experience with Bayesian methodology is desirable. Fluency in English and aptitude with writing and publishing manuscripts are essential.
Applications should include a CV in English, contact details for two academic or professional referees and a cover letter with a personal statement (about half a page) describing your suitability and motivation.
