PhD positions in mathematical statistics

At the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics, University of Amsterdam, there are several vacancies for PhD students in mathematical statistics, in particular in the area of nonparametric Bayesian statistics.

The positions are part of the VICI project "Foundations of nonparametric Bayes procedures". The available projects have a strong mathematical flavour, with links for instance to functional analysis, approximation theory and stochastic process theory, but are motivated by the desire to improve our understanding of practical statistical procedures.

The projects will be caried out within the UvA statistics group and there are strong ties with other Dutch groups working in this area. In the course of the projects it is also possible to spend some time working with colleagues abroad.
