PhD positions (2) in forensic probability and statistics, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Wed 21 Dec 2011 - 18:53
I would like two announce two PhD positions in forensic probability and statistics at the UvA and VU.
The first project is a collaboration between UvA (mathematics and chemistry) and the NFI (Netherlands Forensic Institute), and deals with the evidential value of comprehensive two-dimensional chromatographic methods. This project is supervised by Marjan Sjerps (UvA, NFI) and Gabriel Vivo-Truyols (UvA). The ideal candidate should have a degree in mathematics, physics, applied statistics, computer science or equivalent discipline, and have some proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Matlab). Background in analytical chemistry or forensics is a plus. See http://www.uva.nl/vacatures/vacatures.cfm/AF5537FC-1E1A-45EC-B47E398C9F88912D
The second project (which was announced earlier by Ronald Meester) is a collaboration between the UvA, VU University, NFI, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, and the University of Groningen, and deals with combining evidence in legal casework. This project is supervised by Marjan Sjerps (UvA, NFI) and Ronald Meester (VU). We are looking for a candidate with an interest in applied statistics and probability, and in the legal domain. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in pure or applied mathematics, or in applied statistics, e.g. econometrics, chemometrics, psychometrics, biometrics. Fluent English is a prerequisite, fluent Dutch is a plus. http://www.uva.nl/vacatures/vacatures.cfm/E96C72D7-F690-40AA-87B8EEBB684306F3
Please contact Marjan Sjerps (m.j.sjerps@uva.nl) for further information or if you happen to know a suitable candidate.
