PhD Student at Erasmus MC, the Netherlands

The Position
The Department of Biostatistics of the Erasmus Medical Center (Erasmus University), Rotterdam, the Netherlands has a vacancy for a fulltime PhD student in biostatistics on the topic of Prognostic Joint Models for Longitudinal and Time-to-Event Data under the supervision of Dr. Dimitris Rizopoulos. This is a fully funded position for a period of 4 years, starting from November/December 2014. This position is primarily focused on research, but the PhD student also will be expected to assist in the teaching and consulting responsibilities of the department.
The Department of Biostatistics of Erasmus MC is well known for its innovative statistical research in analyzing complex data structures (longitudinal and survival data, correlated data, missing data, censured data, misclassification data, Bayesian techniques, statistical techniques for GWAs, smoothing techniques, etc.).
Profile of Successful Candidates
Successful candidates are expected to have a strong background and preferably hold a master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or a related field. Knowledge of mixed effects models, survival analysis, Bayesian statistics, R and C++ will be considered a plus. A good command of the English language is a prerequisite.
