This seminar is concerned with the basic ingredients of epidemic models. A short introduction to deterministic and stochastic models will be given, along with their relationship and main characteristics. The properties of the models and their relevance for epidemic control will be outlined. The concepts will be illustrated using data from the current SARS-CoV2 outbreak.
