Wed 25 Aug 2010 - 14:30
STATISTICS & PROBABILITY LETTERS
CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue on
STATISTICS IN BIOLOGICAL AND MEDICAL SCIENCES
Guest Editors: Somnath Datta and Hans van Houwelingen
The DEADLINE for submissions is 1 October 2010.
We are inviting submissions of papers for a special issue in Statistics in Biological and Medical Sciences of
Statistics and Probability Letters. The issue will address statistical methods for biological and medical sciences
in the areas including but not limited to
● clinical trials
● causal inference
● genomics
● health risk analysis
● longitudinal studies
● public health
● marginal structural models
● medical decision making (diagnostic tests, ROC analysis)
● meta analysis
● missing data
● mixed models
● multistate models
● proteomics
● statistical bioinformatics
● statistical genetics
● survival analysis
Following the SPL tradition, papers in this issue should have a theoretical/methodological underpinning.
However, they should contain a data application from biological or medical sciences.
The authors are advised to follow the existing SPL guidelines in preparing their manuscripts including the page
restrictions. They are also encouraged to take advantage of the web-only appendix for placing additional
material such as data description, additional simulation results and details of technical proofs. For this special
issue, editors are willing to consider slightly longer manuscripts provided the excess length is (corrected)
essential for the integrity of the manuscript. However, this is up to the discretion of the editors and the authors
may be asked to reduce the length of the paper after the initial screening by the editors.
Submission must contain original unpublished work. The deadline for submissions is 1 October 2010.
Authors who are uncertain about the suitability of their papers should contact one of the special issue
editors.
Papers for the special issue should be submitted using the Elsevier Electronic Submission tool EES:
http://ees.elsevier.com/stapro. In the EES please choose the special issue on Statistics in Biological and Medical
Sciences. Submissions will be refereed according to standard procedures for Statistics and Probability Letters.
Information about the journal can be found at http: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/stapro.
