The Department of Statistics is one of four component departments of the School
of Mathematics (together with Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and
Financial Mathematics). The Department was ranked 6th in the UK in the 2008
Research Assessment Exercise for its achievements at the highest standards of
international excellence.
You will play a full role in the School, contributing to the research activity,
undergraduate and graduate teaching and administrative duties as directed.
We propose to make an appointment in the broad area of Statistics or Probability.
Preference may be given to the areas of Statistical Bioinformatics or Shape Analysis.
You will possess (or be close to obtaining) a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics
(in particular Statistics) and have a commitment to excellence in research
activities with the potential for establishing an international reputation. The
ability and commitment to teach well at all levels in the School is also essential.
The post is available from September 2011 (or a mutually agreed date).
