HBS seeks a Research Associate to partner with a faculty member in the Marketing Unit on research initiatives related to consumer and firm choices in industries influenced by technology along with value created through social media technologies. Projects involve statistical programing and econometric modeling in R.

Projects involve research and analysis of large data sets. Projects may also include background research and literature reviews that are in line with the faculty’s research agenda, in capacities not limited to data gathering and analysis.



Research Associates have the potential to work with Harvard Business School faculty on a variety of research projects and may develop intellectual property for HBS in many ways. Research products are most often journal articles, working papers, and HBS cases. Duties include: writing and editing; conducting on-site field research at local, regional, and international companies; gathering/analyzing data; performing sophisticated research utilizing world-class library; developing supplemental electronic courseware/case exhibits.

Note: This is a half-time appointment starting ASAP through June 30, 2012 with potential for reappointment. Half-time positions may be combined to create a full-time engagement.



Basic Qualifications: BA or BS Degree required. The ideal candidate will have strong modeling skills in R in addition to a background in social network data.



Additional Qualification: Degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Economics, or Applied Econometrics preferred. Advanced degree preferred. Proficiency in dealing with Network Data or Network Statistical Models. Successful candidates should have hands-on skills in R. The candidate should also pay attention to detail, be thorough, understand deliverables and deadlines, and remain committed to the work in hand.

Additional Qualifications: Candidates should be in good standing with a strong GPA.
