Duties and Responsibilities
The Respiratory Physiology team within the Portex Unit, led by Professor Stocks has an outstanding record for the development and validation of lung function tests for use in infants and young children, and the application of these measurements in epidemiological and clinical research studies.
The post-holder will be responsible for conducting statistical analyses of data from the Wellcome Trust funded Size and Lung function In Children (SLIC) study (www.ucl.ac.uk/slic). They will also work with the Caudwell Xtreme Everest team to analyse some of data gained from the programme (www.xtreme-everest.co.uk).
This post will be funded for 3 years in the first instance.
Key Requirements
The post holder must have an MSc and/or BSc in Statistics. The post holder must have applied health research experience using a variety of statistical methods and experience of writing papers for peer-reviewed journals. PhD (or working towards a PhD) in epidemiology, statistics or other relevant public health science is required, however an exceptional candidate who’s eligible to register for a PhD in the area, could also be offered the post as a developmental/training role. In this case, they would be appointed as a Research Assistant at Grade 6 point 24-26, on the UCL salary scale (£28,057 - £29,585 per annum).
